Sauteed Flounder with Garlic Lemon Butter Sauce
Flounder Fillets
Flounder is a mild white fish that tastes wonderful flavored with lemon. You’ll need four fresh flounder fillets to make this flounder recipe. They should weigh in total about one to one and a half pounds.
If you have frozen flounder, thaw it in the refrigerator first.
Bread Crumbs
Use 1/2 cup of seasoned Italian bread crumbs for this recipe. Seasoned bread crumbs add a little more flavor than the unseasoned. The bread crumbs add some texture to this dish and the little crunchy edges will be tasty.
Olive Oil
I almost always use extra virgin olive oil in my cooking. It’s pertinent in adding flavor to my Italian recipes. You good quality oil because the flavor makes all of the difference. It should be dark green in color.
Large Skillet
You’ll need a large skillet or frying pan to make this flounder recipe. If you need to add a little more oil, go for it.
Lemon Zest
Lemon zest adds more lemon flavor to this fish recipe. It’s a great flavor combo to the capers.
Fresh Lemon Juice
You’ll need to squeeze about two tablespoons of juice from the lemon. If it’s a little under, that’s no problem.
Mince Garlic
The minced garlic cooking in the olive oil will become fragrant and add a lot of the flavor to this dish. If you don’t have fresh garlic cloves, you can sprinkle some garlic powder to the flounder filets at the same time you add the salt and pepper.
Capers
Use a 3 oz jar of capers in their brine. They give this recipe a bold, zesty, tartness that’s reminiscent of green olives.
Cooking Time
The cooking time is only about 8 minutes (or fewer) in total for the flounder. The other two minutes is for the minced garlic.
Total Time
The total cooking time for this whole recipe is only 10 minutes! The fish doesn’t take long at all to cook, which is why it’s a great weeknight dinner you can make fast.
This dinner is a quick and simple, restaurant quality weeknight dinner. You’re going to love the lemon flavor in this tasty fish dinner.
