Pistachio Cream Pizzelles Italian Dessert

You may never had heard of Pistachio cream or crema di pistacchio. I never did until my friend bought a jar from our local Italian Market and had me try a spoonful.  It was so good, I had a big grin on my face before I said “That’s really good!”

These cream-filled pizzelles are similar to my Chocolate Pizzelles with Cannoli Filling that I make with a cream cheese cannoli filling. They’re very yummy too!

What is Crema di Pistacchio? a.k.a. Pistachio Cream

Pistachio Cream Pizzelle Sandwich Italian Dessert

It’s a jarred cream spread made with pistachio nuts, sunflower and cocoa butters and milk. It’s very delicious and you can eat it by the spoonful although, I don’t suggest it or you may finish the jar before you notice.

Here’s a similar Pistachio Cream you can buy on Amazon.

The first time I tasted it, I just loved it!

Does pistachio cream taste like Nutella?

Similar to the consistency of Nutella, they’re only a small bit similar in taste. Nutella has a lot more chocolate flavor to it.

However, pistachio cream is also made with some cocoa. It isn’t runny like Nutella, which is made from palm oil. Rather, pistachio cream is made from both sunflower and cocoa butter.

Therefore, spread it on toast, bread, crackers, plain cookies, or pizzelles. However you’d use Nutella, you can use pistachio cream. It’s a decadent dessert-type cream.
