Italian Sausage Recipes
I always have Italian sausage in my freezer so I can make it for dinner. It’s so delicious and easy to cook. I use it to make Baked Italian Sausage, Potatoes and Peppers too which, is a very yummy complete meal. But, sometimes I don’t have bell peppers in my refrigerator and that’s when this potatoes recipe becomes handy.
I just love its simplicity and it’s definitely not boring because there’s good flavor coming from the Italian sausage and seasoned potatoes. Garlic powder is one of my staple Italian pantry items! I get very nervous if I run out of it.. very nervous!

Italian Sausage and Potato Recipe
You can make this recipe easily in your conventional oven using a baking pan or sheet pan
But, it can also be made in an air fryer. The air fryer instructions are below.

Make Ahead Tips
If you’re wondering if you can make this recipe ahead for a crowd, the answer is YES! Aren’t you glad you asked?
Just peel and cut the potatoes ahead of time (on the same day) and place them in a bowl of water until you’re ready to cook them. Then, drain them well from the water and continue with the rest of the recipe instructions.
If you’re now wondering if you can bake the recipe and reheat it when ready to serve, I’m going to say that I’m not a fan of reheated potatoes. But, you do what you want to do.

Italian sausage is a raw pork product and needs to be cooked to an internal temperature of 160F.
What is a good side dish for Italian sausages?
There are many sides dishes that go well with Italian sausage. Potatoes are one of the most common.

Air Fryer Instructions
Ingredients
- 1 lb good-quality sweet Italian sausage (or hot if you prefer)
- 1 lb russet or red potatoes
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3/4 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Note: If the sausage and potatoes are cut larger than specified below, it’ll take longer for them to cook.
- First, oil spray the bin of the air fryer.
- Cut the Italian sausage into two inch long pieces and add to a large bowl.
- Peel and cut the potatoes into one inch cubes and add to the large bowl.
- Add olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the potatoes and sausage to the mixing bowl and stir with a large spoon.
- Add the sausage and potato mixture to the air fryer bin.
- Set the temperature to 375 and the timer to 30 minutes. Cut into the sausage to ensure it’s no longer pink inside. Also, cut into a potato piece to ensure it’s soft. It may need another 5 minutes or so.
This Italian sausage and potato recipe is one of my go-to recipes for when I want an easy weeknight meal the whole family will love. It’s a great thing when you don’t have much time to prepare dinner. Also, it’s a great dish to serve to a large group for a party or Sunday dinner. It’s so yummy and simple.

Italian Sausage and Potatoes in Oven
Ingredients
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 lb russet potatoes 2-3 medium sized potatoes
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3/4 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F.
- Oil spray a sheet pan or baking pan 8" x 11".
- Cut the Italian sausage into two inch long pieces and add to the pan.
- Peel and cut the potatoes into one inch cubes and add to the pan.
- Add olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the potatoes and sausage and stir with a large spoon.
- Bake in 375F oven for 40-45 min or until potatoes are soft and sausage is no longer pink when cut in half.
