How to Make Pink Chocolate Covered Strawberries

In this blog post, I’ll guide you through this easy recipe with step-by-step instructions for making the perfect chocolate-covered strawberries. The process of making your very own pink chocolate-covered strawberries is simple.

Get ready to delight your taste buds and impress your loved ones with these beautiful and delicious treats! This is a fun project to do with your kids or grandkids too!

They’re much better than chocolate covered strawberries that have been sitting in a box for weeks before you open them. You can tell because the strawberries start to run their red juices in the box.

Remember, white chocolate is not chocolate! It’s not made with cocoa beans therefore, it’s just the term used to refer to the color.

Also, when grocery shopping, choose fresh strawberries with green leaves. Look for berries that are plump, firm, and free of blemishes. I know this can be impossible sometimes based on what’s available.

You can melt white chocolate or dark chocolate to drizzle on the pink chocolate covered strawberries. It’s up to you.

Here’s a list of optional toppings to give you ideas, if you so desire.

Optional Toppings

  • coconut flakes
  • crushed peanuts
  • crushed Oreo cookies
  • red, white and pink mini M&Ms
  • mini white or chocolate chips
  • dyed red white chocolate drizzle
  • dyed blue white chocolate drizzle

Clean Strawberries

First, rinse the strawberries thoroughly under cold water without removing the leafy stems.

Then, gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Do not submerge them in water because they’ll discolor and get mushy.

Melt the Chocolate

Meanwhile, if you’re using pink candy melts, follow the instructions on the packaging to melt them properly.

If you prefer to use white chocolate chips and red food coloring, place only the white chocolate chips with one teaspoon of coconut oil in a deep microwave-safe bowl. It makes it easier to coat the strawberries if you use a deep bowl rather than a shallow bowl.

Does adding coconut oil to melted chocolate make it shiny?

The short answer is yes. In particular, adding coconut oil to white chocolate makes it easier to melt in the microwave and stir afterward. You may add it to semi-sweet chocolate too as it will make the chocolate shiny and smooth.

However, this can be achieved by letting the chocolate covered strawberries cool in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.

Microwave the white chocolate chips for one minute and stir well until it is smooth and fully melted.

Then, add two drops of red food coloring to achieve your desired shade of pink and mix well. You may use pink food coloring if you have it.

Stir well to mix the red food coloring with the melted white chocolate.

TIP: Use a rubber spatula because as the white chocolate begins to harden while you’re dipping the strawberries, the rubber spatula will come in handy to scrape the sides of the bowl.

How to Make Pink Chocolate Covered StrawberriesDip the Strawberries

Then, dip the strawberries. Holding a strawberry firmly by its stem, dip it into the melted pink chocolate. Swirl it around gently to ensure the strawberry is fully coated up near the leaves as shown in the image. Allow any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.

Dip quickly because white chocolate will harden faster than melted chocolate. You can reheat it to melt it again but, it will not be the same consistency.

Then, place the chocolate-coated strawberry on a wax-lined baking sheet. Repeat with each strawberry.

Decorate Strawberries (Optional)

Then, while the chocolate is still wet, you can sprinkle some decorative toppings over the strawberries to add extra flair, flavor and texture. Consider using pink or white sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, crushed Oreo cookies or peanuts, or edible glitter or edible luster dust.

If you’re not decorating them as listed in previous step, begin melting the chocolate or white chocolate chips to drizzle. You don’t have to add coconut oil to the chocolate chips but, you can.

Microwave the chocolate chips fo 30  seconds, and stir well until it is smooth and fully melted. You may need to add more time depending on the power level of your microwave.

Add the melted chocolate to a plastic sandwich bag (a plastic snack bag will work too.) It’s easiest to put the plastic bag in a glass and fold it around the rim.

Then, pour the melted chocolate into it. Close the zipper and press the chocolate into the corner of the bag. Next, cut a very small hole in the corner to make the drizzle lines on the strawberries.

Next, take the cooled, pink chocolate-covered strawberries and use the melted chocolate in the bag to drizzle lines on the strawberries. Go back and forth quickly.

At this point, while the lines are still wet, you may sprinkle edible glitter or colored sugar on them, if you wish before the lines dry. The edible glitter or sugar will only adhere to the lines while they’re wet.

Cool Strawberries

Then, once you have coated and decorated all the strawberries, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to set. This will ensure a firm and glossy finish. After they have set, transfer the strawberries to a serving platter or arrange them in decorative boxes for gifting.

However, if you don’t have refrigerator space, you may place the baking sheet holding the strawberries in the refrigerator or leave them on a counter or table away from heat to come to room temperature, if the room is cool. If it’s summertime or warmer weather, put them directly in the refrigerator.
