When we were looking for great seafood restaurants in Naples, FL, we were reluctant to eat in restaurants in which we didn’t have good recommendations. What if the food is horrible or the service is slow and our toddlers erupt at the table because their patience has expired before the main meal arrives? What if the food is mediocre with a pricey bill? What if they don’t have kids menus and won’t accommodate picky palettes? Oh no! I need to know I’m not wasting our money in restaurants because I’ll walk away unhappy afterward feeling like we squandered money.
Of course there are many great places to eat in Naples, Florida but, the two mentioned in this post are where we ate and enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Both were great seafood restaurants in Naples, Fl with enjoyable dining experiences worth sharing with you!
Seafood is one of our favorite foods. Shrimp Scampi Fettuccine or Roasted Tilapia are dishes I like to make at home that are fast and easy clean up. Salmon is also very good for its nutritional value and it tastes great prepared with lemon and dill.
In March, we visited my in-laws in Venice, Florida (the western, Gulf side) and took a day trip to Naples. We found two great seafood restaurants in Naples, FL that we really enjoyed, one of which was found by our friend Annamarie. Being that Florida is such a popular winter vacation destination, and rightfully so, this info is good to share and pin for your next trip to Florida.
Citrus Seafood-455 Fifth Ave S, Naples, FL
The first of two great seafood restaurants in Naples, FL was this cute little seafood place is located on Fifth Ave South right in the heart of the popular shopping district and only a few short blocks from the beautiful white sand beach!
The location of this restaurant was perfect and not too pricey. We found free parking in two parking garages around Sixth and Eighth Avenues.
The restaurant has patio seating near the sidewalk so you can feel that you’re part of the action. We had a nice time catching up with our friends. Naples is a beautiful town so, I can understand why it is so popular with the resident retirees and tourists.
Citrus Seafood has a wonderful variety of fresh seafood on their lunch menu and is not entirely overpriced considering its proximity to shopping and the beach. Nonetheless, the food is so good, you will not be disappointed. I’d rather pay a little more for excellent food any day over lower mediocre food….Any day and twice on the weekends. This food was borderline gourmet.
I ordered the Sliders with Grouper fish from the Small Plates section of the menu, which could instead be ordered with lobster or ground beef, and comes with fresh hand cut fries that I suspect may be fried in peanut oil. The fries were absolutely dangerously delicious! Our 4 yr old ate all of his fries and then moved onto mine. I was weary of the “Hey, mom!” moment after there isn’t one morsel left on his plate. The sliders are made with their house made buns too.
The Grouper was so fresh and grilled to perfection with a few small crispy edges. It was not overly salted or seasoned as I find at many restaurants where over seasoning must be their way of covering up food that isn’t fresh or is just low quality. There were two sliders on my plate along with the fries making it just enough for lunch. The orange-colored sauce on the sliders was really good too. I expect it was some kind of seasoned mayonnaise.
Each one of us enjoyed our meal. I heard “mmm” from each person as they took their first bite. My husband ordered the Florida Fish Cakes which was also from the Small Plates section and he was pleased as well. I ate one of his fish cakes and it too was tasty and seasoned well.
Our friend enjoyed the homemade Crab Ravioli in a creamy mustard sauce. Homemade pasta is so much better than manufactured pasta you find in the freezer section of the grocery store! This pasta dish looked amazing although I don’t think it needed quite that much sauce.
Our other friend, had the Snapper with crab fried rice from the Large Plates and it was a nice size portion which, I’d say would be filling for dinner. He enjoyed it and why wouldn’t he enjoy fresh pan-seared Snapper with whipped potatoes, asparagus and colossal crab?! Of course he did!
Our server was very pleasant and although the restaurant does not have a kids’ menu, our server quickly told us they could make buttered pasta and fries for our toddlers. Our boys love lemonade so their fresh squeezed lemonade was a hit.
I enjoyed Prosecco in a nice champagne flute. The glassware was elegant. Our 4 yr old thought he’d take a picture of the this water goblet after he saw me snapping pictures of our food. Although there was no kids menu, they were very accommodating. We would definitely go back to Citrus Seafood!
After our delicious lunch, we walked a few short blocks to the beach where my 3 yr. old decided to run up and down the beach and then fall into wet sand. Yes, I saw this coming.
Capri Fish House
Capri Fish House-203 Capri Blvd, Naples, FL 34113
This was the second of two great seafood restaurants in Naples, FL. I found a recommendation on Trip Advisor for Capri Fish House which mentioned you could eat on the beach which, immediately perked my attention. It is a very casual seafood place with indoor and outdoor seating, ample parking and you can have drinks or eat right on the beach with your toes in the sand! We were delighted to be just in time for Happy Hour followed by a romantic waterfront dinner for two.
We enjoyed late afternoon cocktails on the beach. I had what I believed to be a homemade Pina Colada (not frozen mix) followed by a Margarita, which also did not taste like a sugary mix. As I was sipping this delicious Pina Colada, I couldn’t help but think of Jimmy Buffet and “Escape” song, aka “The Pina Colada song” and shortly after the song came on the speaker. Was it coincidental? Perhaps the bartender plays it every time it is ordered?!
There is an early bird menu if you order before 4:45 but, we wanted to enjoy a nice long sunset dinner alone (our boys were with Nana and Pappy) so we had appetizers first. We chose delicious Oysters Rockefeller and calamari. My husband prefers calamari not fried but I do, so the chef prepared it especially for us in a savory broth.
After a few drinks and a couple appetizers, our salads arrived followed by our delicious entrees- Stuffed Flounder and Grilled Grouper both with steamed veggies and buttery mashed potatoes.
The best part of this relaxing meal was enjoying it while watching a beautiful sunset on the water, over the pier while listening to live music with our toes in the sand! It was a long awaited romantic evening with my honey.
The Capri Fish House also has kayak rentals and jet ski tours. It is a very casual restaurant serving good food with a smile, live music five days a week on the bay with a nice waterfront view of the sunset!
When you’re becoming “hangry”(so hungry, you’re angry) and looking for the answer to the question “What if…?” after a long day of site seeing or beach fun, don’t take a chance on an unfamiliar restaurant. Citrus Seafood* and Capri Fish House* are great seafood restaurants in Naples, FL with fresh and well-prepared seafood in good locations with enjoyable dining experiences which you, your tummy and wallet deserve!
