Also, this a great way to use up white wine that is lower quality than you’re used to. I don’t recommend using the best white wine or even your favorite white wine because you want to preserve the taste of very good wine and not alter it.

This festive Christmas sangria recipe makes six drinks, which goes further than a bottle of wine alone. Make a double batch (or triple batch for a large crowd) and serve it in a large pitcher at Christmas parties. It’s more elegant than punch but, it’s just as easy to make.

This holiday drink is garnished with a sprig of rosemary, apples, fresh cranberries and a cinnamon stick to make not only appetizing, but festive! It’s great for Christmas Eve if you’re celebrating the Feast of the Seven Fishes because it goes well with fish and seafood.

*The full, printable recipe is in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

This white wine sangria is made without brandy.

Ingredients

I think the soda gives and fruit juices it enough sweetness but, if you like it on the sweeter side, add 1/4 cup of simple syrup.

For additional garnish, add a sprig of rosemary if you don’t have cinnamon sticks or prefer rosemary sprigs as they do add some nice greenery.

Store it in the refrigerator for the flavors to meld and if there are any leftovers. Be sure to read about How Long Does Sangria Last in Refrigerator (Easy Guide).

Substitutions

  • Use Pinot Grigio instead of Sauvignon Blanc.
  • Use white grape juice or apple juice instead of white cranberry juice (as this can be hard to find.)
  • Substitute triple sec instead of Cointreau orange liqueur.
  • Instead of using red apples, use pomegranate seeds, if you prefer.
  • Use club soda or ginger ale instead of lemon-lime soda, if that’s what you have on hand.

I don’t recommend using sweet white wine because it will be overly sweet once you add the orange liqueur and lemon-lime soda.

Serve this delicious white sangria recipe on Christmas day. Your family or friends will love the winter flavors of this sweet sangria while picking at appetizers and reminiscing about Christmases past.

It’d pair perfectly with turkey or ham.

With the holiday season upon us, what better way to toast to the festivities than with a glass of tasty White Christmas Sangria? What would Christmas dinner be without a delicious, festive holiday cocktail? It’s the perfect drink everyone will love!

White Christmas Sangria Recipe

Servings 6
Prep: 5 minutes
Total: 4 hours 5 minutes
This White Christmas Sangria Recipe is full of flavors of the season- cinnamon, cranberry, apple and orange. It's the perfect cocktail for holiday parties.

Ingredients

  • 750 ml Sauvignon Blanc dry white wine (chardonnay or pinot grigio)
  • 1/3 cup orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/2 cup white cranberry juice
  • 1 red apple, 1 inch cubes
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 3 cinnamon sticks ((optional more for garnish))
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup lemon lime soda (for flavor and fizz)
  • 6 rosemary sprigs (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  • First, add one red apple (cut into 1 inch cubes,) 1 cup of fresh cranberries, and 3 cinnamon sticks into a large pitcher.
  • Next, add the liquids- 750 ml Sauvignon Blanc dry white wine, 1/3 cup orange liqueur, 1/2 cup white cranberry juice cocktail, and 1 tsp of lime juice.
  • Then, give it a good stir, cover with plastic wrap and place in your refrigerator for 4 hours for the flavors to meld.
  • Before you serve it, add the lemon-lime soda and stir it. Adding it beforehand will make the soda go flat (lose carbonation.)
  • Pour sangria into a glass. Garnish with chopped fruit from pitcher, cinnamon sticks and rosemary sprig if you wish.

Notes

Nutritional info includes optional ingredients and does include the flesh of the apple although the instructions tell you to peel it.
Store it in the refrigerator for the flavors to meld and if there are any leftovers.
I think the soda gives it enough sweetness but, if you think this drink isn’t sweet enough, add 1/4 cup of simple syrup.
Add a sprig of rosemary for garnish if you don’t have cinnamon sticks.

Substitutions

  • Use Pinot Grigio instead of Sauvignon Blanc.
  • Use white grape juice instead of white cranberry juice (as this can be hard to find.)
  • Use triple sec instead of Cointreau orange liqueur.

  1. Hi Trish. I have not tried this recipe with frozen cranberries however, if that’s your only option, I’d try it. When the cranberries thaw, their juices will meld with the other flavors of the sangria as they should so, I think it would work. Happy holidays!

  2. Any thoughts on frozen cranberries?
