How to Make Easy Roasted Pumpkin Pie Soup You’ll Devour
The printable recipe card is at the bottom of this post. Depending upon the size of your pumpkin, you won’t need the whole pumpkin for this recipe. Use the FoodSaver®FM3941 Sealing System to store the remainder of the pumpkin for future use. Instructions on how to it are below.
Ingredients
- 8 cups peeled, cubed (1 1/2 inch pieces) pumpkin
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 cups vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp of pumpkin pie spice or ( 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, 1/2 tsp ground ginger and 1/4 tsp ground cloves)
- cooking spray
Instructions
- First, preheat oven to 400F.
- Next, in a large roasting pan lined with foil for easy clean up, spray it with cooking spray. Spread out the cubed peeled pumpkin. Top with all of the seasonings. Roast in oven for 55 minutes or until you can pierce pumpkin with a fork.
3. Next, put the roasted pumpkin in a stainless steel large sauce pan/pot on medium heat. Add vegetable broth. Using a handheld blender (or put in a blender), Begin blending the pumpkin until smooth and heated through.

How to Use the FoodSaver®FM3941 with Heat Seal Pre-cut Bags
- First, fill your bag about two inches from the opening with the peeled and cubed pumpkin.
- Next, twist the latch on the right side of the FoodSaver®FM3941 to “Open” (the “Power” light will turn green) and open the lid.
- Then, put the cut side of the bag onto the sealing area and close the lid.
- Next, twist the latch to “On” position and close the lid.
- Last, press the “Vac/Seal” button (Vac/Seal light will turn red) and wait until it is finished pulling out the air and sealing the bag (“Vac/Seal” light turns green when done.)
How to Use the FoodSaver®FM3941 with Roll Bag
- First, twist the latch on the right side of the FoodSaver®FM3941 to “Open” and open the lid.
- Next, put the roll in position and pull it down to the seal area to make the first seal. Close the lid.
- Then, turn the latch to “On.”
- Next, press the “Seal” button.
- Then, twist the latch to “Open” and open the lid.
- Next, pull the bag material to the length you wish.
- Then, turn the latch to “On.”
- Then, press the “Seal” button for the next bag. While it’s sealing, pull the button to cut the bag.
- Next, fill your bag about two inches from the opening with the peeled and cubed pumpkin.
- Next, twist the lever on the right side of the FoodSaver®FM3941 to “open” (the “Power” light will turn green) and open the lid.
- Then, put the cut side of the bag onto the sealing area and close the lid.

What Kind of Pumpkin is Best to Make Pumpkin Soup?
Many pumpkin varieties are good for pumpkin pie. The HEB pumpkin variety is what I used in this recipe. Jarrahdale and sugar pumpkins are good too. However, the big orange Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins are edible but, not the best for making pumpkin puree.
