Creamy Garlic Parmesan Gnocchi
Ingredients
* The full printable recipe is in the recipe card at the bottom of this post where you can increase the number of servings. However, as I stated above, its a filling dish so keep that in mind especially if you’re making side dishes or adding cooked chicken.
You may be able to find all of these ingredients at your local grocery store.
- frozen, store-bought gnocchi
- fresh spinach leaves
- grated Parmesan cheese
- heavy cream
- butter
- cloves of garlic
- salt
- black pepper
- red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions Summary
First, cook gnocchi in a large pot of salted water according to package directions or about 6-7 minutes or until the gnocchi floats. Drain and set aside.
Meanwhile, in a large skillet on medium heat, make the Parmesan cream sauce. Add butter and minced garlic to the pan and cook for about one minute but, be sure not to let the garlic brown.
Next, add the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper and stir for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Then, add the cooked gnocchi and fresh spinach leaves and stir.
Last, sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.

Additions and Substitutions
- Add cooked, shredded chicken or shrimp to make it a complete meal.
- Add sun-dried tomatoes.
- Sauteed mushrooms would add a meaty flavor, yet keep it vegetarian.
What to Serve with Gnocchi
- Red or white wine is a good pairing with gnocchi.
- Chicken cutlets are a wonderful main dish that goes well with it.
- Sauteed broccoli rabe is a nice green vegetable side dish.
- Serve with arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing a side salad.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to three days for maximum freshness.

Garlic Parmesan Spinach Gnocchi
Ingredients
- 16 oz frozen gnocchi
- 2 cups fresh spinach leaves
- 8 oz heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 dash red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- First, cook frozen gnocchi according to package directions in a large pot of salted water.
- Meanwhile, in a large pan on medium heat, add minced garlic and butter. Cook for 1 minute. Don't let the garlic turn brown or it will get bitter.
- Then, add the heavy cream and grated parmesan cheese and cook about 2-3 minutes so the sauce can bubble and thicken.
- Next, gently, stir in cooked and drained gnocchi and spinach leaves. Add salt and pepper and red pepper flakes, if desired.
