These air fryer pork cutlets have a nice crispy crust made with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs and Italian breadcrumbs and are seasoned with garlic, onion, salt and black pepper. This recipe is low in fat and calories because it’s made with little oil. Plus, it goes with many side dishes and is ready in just 30 minutes.

These juicy pork chops are low in fat and calories. Because they’re not fried in oil, you can feel better about serving them to your family. It’s an easy pork chop recipe a.k.a. air fryer pork schnitzel which my German husband loves.
These air fryer pork cutlets are seasoned with garlic and onion and then coated in an Italian breadcrumbs and Panko breadcrumbs mixture and air fried until golden brown. I use both types of breadcrumbs because using all Panko I find is too crunchy and that’s why I do a 1:1 ratio.
This recipe works with using either of the breadcrumb types though, in case you’re wondering. Nonetheless, they’re juicy pork chops, made with simple ingredients and ready in only 30 minutes!
On this blog, I have lots of air fryer recipes because using an air fryer is a more efficient cooking process. It’s easier and faster to cook dinner in my air fryer than my conventional oven. I use less oil and the food comes out crispy.
You can use either an air fryer oven with trays or one with air fryer basket.

Where do I buy pork cutlets?
Some grocery stores sell pork cutlets and others do not. Pork cutlets are thin cutlets made from the pork loin as are pork chops. What’s nice about pork cutlets is that they’re cut thinner than you can probably cut yourself at home with a butcher knife.
Are pork cutlets the same as pork chops?
As mentioned above, pork chops and pork cutlets are both from the pork loin but, pork cutlets are thinner cut than pork chops and they dont’ contain the bone. They’re similar to boneless, thin pork chops. They can be dipped in beaten eggs, breaded and fried like chicken cutlets. Basically, pork cutlets are thin, boneless pork chops with little to no fat on them because it’s been trimmed off.
The cooking time will depend on the size of your air fryer, thickness of your pork chops and how much food is in the air fryer.
For example, if you have a side dish like potatoes cooking in there on a different tray, the pork chops will take longer to cook. Obviously, thick pork chops will take a bit longer than than thin ones.
How do you keep pork chops from dyring out in the air fryer?
After the pork chops are done cooking, don’t leave them in there to keep warm until you’re ready to serve them. They’ll continue to cook and dry out.
That’s not to say you must remove them immediately, but don’t leave them in for more than five-ten minutes or they’ll start to dry out. This is true for cooking vegetables in your air fryer too.
The hot air is dry and it will dry out your food if left in there too long. Keep this in mind when you’re cooking time is up.
Ingredients
*The full printable recipe card is below.
- pork cutlets, thin sliced or boneless thin pork chops
- extra virgin olive oil
- cooking spray
- panko breadcrumbs (makes cutlets extra crispy)
- seasoned Italian breadcrumbs
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- salt
- black pepper
Instructions
First, spray the air fryer trays or basket with cooking spray.
Then, put the seasonings in a small bowl- 1/4 tsp each garlic powder and salt and 1/8 tsp each onion powder and black pepper.
Then, make a breading station with the breadcrumbs: using a shallow bowl, add the Panko breadcrumbs (1/3 cup) and the Italian breadcrumbs (1/3 cup) to it and stir together. Don’t add seasonings to bread crumbs because you won’t use all of the breadcrumbs and then the meat won’t get seasoned directly as instructed below.
Next, put the olive oil in a large bowl and coat both sides of the pork cutlets with it. This will allow the bread crumbs to adhere to them.
Next, sprinkle each side of the pork cutlets evenly with dry seasonings.
Then, dip the cutlets in breadcrumbs and coat them evenly on each side.
Next, place pork cutlets, in a single layer, on the air fryer trays or in the air fryer basket and cook at 380F for 5 minutes on each side in a preheated air fryer. Even with an air fryer with trays, you will need to do cook in batches because they will likely not fit on the top layer of the air fryer and the bottom ones will not cook at the same rate as the top.
As I’ve mentioned above, remove the pork cutlets from the air fryer soon after they’re done so they don’t dry out. If you’re not ready to serve them, put them on a plate and cover them in aluminum foil.

These came out perfect. Thanks!
Hi Kat. I”m not sure why they came out soggy, especially if you cooked them in an air fryer. Cooking times on air fryers vary.
Not crispy! Raw and soggy!! Yuck. Cooked another 5 minutes on each side. Still soggy but at least they were done!
