Every year, our family looks forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day in our home. I go on a quest to find just the right Valentine’s Day cards to give to our boys, ages 5 and 6, to show them how much they mean to their Dad and me.
But, not just any greeting cards will do.
I enjoy seeing the excitement in their eyes and smiles on their faces when we give them Hallmark Valentine’s Day Cards. It makes them feel special, thoughtfully remembered and above all else- LOVED!
Don’t they look interested in their carefully selected Hallmark Cards?
But, we don’t stop there. I buy cards for them to give to their daddy and daddy buys cards for them to give to me- their mom. It teaches them to be thoughtful and how to make mom feel special and remembered for the abundance of love she gives all year round.
We started this tradition when they became toddlers! I feel like the luckiest mom in the world to receive beautifully messaged Hallmark Cards and chocolate from my handsome little boys! I get kisses from one and hugs from the other because he doesn’t like giving kisses…not even to his mommy but, I’ll take what I can get!
The Saturday morning before Valentine’s Day, we start our celebration by making “Conversation Heart” Pancakes with Heart-shaped Strawberries and whipped cream!
We get out their little chef hats and start measuring out the ingredients. Our boys love making, flipping and eating pancakes but, mostly eating them! You can get the printable recipe below.

How to Make Conversation Heart Pancakes with Heart Strawberries
You will find the printable recipe below.
Makes 13 to14, 4-inch long heart-shaped pancakes
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 egg
1 ½ tsp vanilla
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 large strawberries
Whipped cream
Red gel icing
Pink and red sprinkles
Instructions:
- First, remove stems. Then, slice strawberries in half, lengthwise. Then cut a “v” at the top where the stem was removed as pictured.
- Next, in a medium mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla and oil. Stir until well combined.
- Then, spray oil a griddle or large frying pan and place on med heat. When it’s hot, add a spoonful of pancake batter in the shape of an oval facing from left to right as to make the left “hill” of the heart. Immediately add another spoonful of cake batter opposite to mirror it. Use the spoon to pull the cake batter down to make the point of the heart.
- Next, let the pancake cook for about a minute or until holes start to appear and then gently flip it over.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all of the cake batter made into pancakes.
- Then, arrange 3 pancakes on a plate. Using red gel icing, write in capital letters Conversation Heart sayings i.e. “LUV”, “BE MINE”, “COOL”, “CUTE” etc. or write your own personal messages.
- Next, place the strawberries on the plate.
- Then, add whipped cream wherever you want.
- Last, add some pink and red sprinkles on top of the whipped cream.
