Bacon wrapped asparagus is a great low-carb side dish for chicken, steak or the almighty Thanksgiving turkey! What I like about using this recipe for Thanksgiving is that it won’t take up conventional oven space.
Also, it’s so easy-to-make. You can prep it ahead of time and just put it in the air fryer when you’re ready to cook it.

Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
How many inches do you cut asparagus?
Cut about two inches off the bottom stems of the asparagus spears which is the thickest part of them. This is easiest done by leaving the rubber bands on and cutting them with a sharp knife.
Ingredients
- 12 asparagus spears
- 1/2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil or oil spray
- 1 tsp dried minced onion
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (affiliate link)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
- salt to taste
- 6 slices of bacon, cut in half lengthwise
Instructions
- First, wash the asparagus and cut two inches off the ends of the asparagus. That part is not tender.
- Next, cut the bacon lengthwise in half to make twelve four-inch or so pieces.
- Then, brush the oil (or oil spray) the top of the asparagus.
-
Next, add the spices to a small bowl and stir together.
- Then, sprinkle the asparagus with the seasoning.
- Next, wrap one piece of bacon around one piece of asparagus to cover from the bottom of the stalk to the bottom of the asparagus florets.
-
Then, place the asparagus into the air fryer in single layers (you may need to do them in batches if you have a basket air fryer.) Cook on 380F for 10-13 minutes or so.
The bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender and well-seasoned. The olive oil gives it some flavor too. Oh, it’s so good!!
Substitutions
- Use turkey bacon in place of pork bacon
- Use pencil asparagus (thin asparagus.)
